Produced in collaboration with CavBeatz and Engineered by King Nuke who have been instrumental in crafting the sound of this EP, ‘JUNGLE’ is a result of perseverance and creative freedom. Reflecting on the creation process, Ykayyy recalls, “All the songs on ‘JUNGLE’ were made during a tough period when neither CavBeatz nor I had jobs. We were just sitting around, mad as hell, fighting our demons. But I wanted to have fun with this project, take my time, and explore genres that people wouldn’t expect from me. Working with CavBeatz and King Nuke has been a blessing and I’m truly thankful and grateful for them both and this is definitely only the beginning, King Nuke did a fantastic job with mixing and mastering
for this project he’s also a mentor of mine and he has new projects in store as well so big shout out to CAVBEATZ & KING NUKE!!!”
Her musical journey began at a young age; Ykayyy has been rapping since she was three years old, often entertaining her family at cookouts with her bold performances. “I used to run around, a little snagga tooth fouryear-old, rapping at family gatherings, and everyone would be like, ‘Oh, she’s something else,’” she reminisces. This EP is deeply personal, allowing her fans to glimpse into her varied moods as a Pisces, with each track reflecting different facets of her personality. ‘JUNGLE’ brings a nostalgic feel reminiscent of early 2000s hip-hop, a deliberate choice by Ykayyy to evoke the memories of her younger days spent secretly watching BET Uncut at low volume.
